Get ready to meet Android 5.1.1 – Androidinsider (press release) (blog)

The colleagues of Android Police last couple of weeks here and there observed the traces of Android 5.1.1. All spoke about the imminent release of a new version out, and the process started. The first new version of Android has received prefix Nexus Player, and then the company has posted the source code for Android 5.1.1 AOSP, making it accessible to all developers. This means that the producers of our devices can already start working on an upgrade, and the family of Nexus will receive the new version in the near future.

Of course, all that we expect from the new version of this fix mistakes and shortcomings Android 5.1, such as memory leaks and other problems, which we reported. Colleagues from Android Police carefully dismantled developer comments on AOSP and found a total of 34 corrections. All of them are somehow connected with debugging basic system functions.

The new version will bring not only the correction of non-working features, but also improvements in safety. It’s safe to say that the supported devices will receive the brand Nexus Android 5.1.1 as soon as possible, but when the manufacturers of other devices decide to release an update, we can not know.
