The company launched its first BlackBerry smartphone based operating system Android. Phone called Priv.
The manufacturer promises to buyers of the new device improved security compared to other devices on Android.
These devices are protected by a proprietary encryption BlackBerry, and special application DTEK is designed to track suspicious applications.
Priv released in an unusual slider. Under the touch screen device is qwerty-keyboard.
BlackBerry decided to release a smartphone on Android after unsuccessful attempts to introduce its own operating system.
Blackberry owns less than 1% of the smartphone market. The company plans to sell up to 5 million Priv for the first year. Over the past quarter Blackberry sold just 800,000 units.
