A quick review of Android-smartphone Philips Xenium W732 - Gagadget.com |'s not boring technique

When I found out that we have in the market will be officially sold smartphones and phones under the brand Philips, I experienced an acute interest: these devices are always famous for excellent battery life. Unfortunately, the personal acquaintance with the smartphone Philips Xenium W732 interest is almost completely gone.

caused such a loss of interest in the first place so that the Philips Xenium W732 with software and hardware point of view, is no different from other Chinese smartphone platform MediaTek MT6575. Very similar devices can be purchased under the brand names Prestigio and Fly. That’s why I will not dwell on the functional characteristics of the machine, and limited to the description of his appearance, screen and battery life.

appearance and design

Externally

Xenium W732 is not too similar to other Android-Smartphones: In my view, it is somewhat widish and therefore looks slightly “flattened”. The black frame around the screen goes into Stuck cogs in the sidewall, it also looks unusual.

On the left side you can find decorative lettering Xenium, inflicted on ordinary paint. On the right are buttons for volume control on the top – both connectors (micro-USB and headphone output) and the Power / Lock key. It is said that all of these buttons I personally seemed too small and uncomfortable, though not as much as the lock button in the HTC One.

back cover fits the upper and lower ends of the machine. Removed it is not easy to do this, hook it over the recess for the connector micro-USB. Initially the cover pasted stern warning that if you shoot and put it correctly (the lower part), it will certainly lead to damage the power button.

Build Quality at Philips Xenium W732 can be called perfect without any exaggeration: in his hand felt totally monolithic device, no squeaks and not loose, but overall nice weighty pulls a pocket or hand.

Screen

Philips Xenium W732 is equipped with a 4.3-inch IPS-screen with a resolution of 480×800 pixels. Traditionally, the devices come from China, this screen shows a good overall image quality, but its quality is poor settings – the colors noticeably shifted towards the green.

Touch matrix (capacitive) in Philips Xenium W732 supports up to five simultaneous key presses. The screen is protected by the most ordinary glass that is not what “Gorilla” of the question. In addition, it is devoid of glass oleophobic coating, so your finger across the screen slides Xenium W732 is not the best way, but just as fingerprints are not removed, they must be thoroughly scrubbed.

capacity and autonomy

Mediatek MT6575 processor is equipped with a single-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor with a clock frequency of 1 GHz and a graphics accelerator PowerVR SGX 531, and 512 MB of RAM. As a result, the performance Philips Xenium W732 as close to the patriarch of Samsung Galaxy S and much inferior to modern phones middle class. Most of all, of course, is lack of RAM.

But autonomy deserves a separate discussion. In Xenium W732 battery installed capacity of 2400 mAh (9 Wh), which is a lot for a smartphone on the platform. As a result, it is the only one I know of Android-devices capable of in normal day to day operation last more than two days.

The bottom

The main problem

Philips Xenium W732 is the fact that this is an ordinary Chinese Android-based smartphone, which is built on top of an obsolete platform MediaTek MT6575. Add to that the current price of the device, which is about 2,800 hryvnia, and the result is a highly dubious proposition, as better models HTC Desire SV, Samsung Galaxy S Duos and Huawei Ascend G500 Pro cost the same or less. Moreover, similar in characteristics (except for the battery life) Huawei Ascend G302stoit at this time exactly half the price. Is it any capacity battery such victims? In my opinion, no. So Philips Xenium W732 will be competitive only after its retail price will drop significantly.

2 reasons to buy Philips Xenium W732:

  • support for two SIM-cards;
  • long (for a smartphone) battery life.

2 reasons not to buy Philips Xenium W732:

  • low productivity;
  • clearly overestimated (by far) the price.
