Temporary suspension of production Google Glass opened the good market prospects for augmented reality glasses of other firms. While engaged in redesigning a trendsetter, competitors rush to introduce their new products. Who has not had time at CES 2015, is preparing to do so at the MWC March and stirs interest intermediate announcements. One of these innovations were presented by Osterhout Design Group, which specializes in data visualization systems for industrial and military applications. Civilian version of a distinctive design points and running the Android OS on a fairly powerful platform.
The model does not yet have its own trade name, but conceptually extends the range of “smart” glasses R6. Vice president of wearable devices ODG Nima Shams (Nima Shams) explains that it will feature reduced to 125 grams weight and improved form factor, as close as possible to the design of traditional sunglasses.

Compared with Google Glass used in dual-core TI OMAP 4430 (frequency up to 1 GHz and 45-nm process technology) is a huge bonus for performance and energy efficiency.

By simply changing the settings, you can translate glasses mode augmented virtual reality mode. Other interesting features include a magnetic connector to USB cable and gyrostabilized platform, consisting of three gyroscopes, three accelerometers and three magnetometers.
Manage glasses can be different. In the basic version all the commands sent from the original keyboard. It is equipped with a trackpad, connect via Bluetooth and easily fits in your pocket. Observers note that the navigation menu, and most other actions (including web surfing) on it is easily performed blindly. For active outdoor use more convenient to take the ring with a couple of hardware buttons and built-in sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope). With it is possible to perform the gesture control.
The main problem remains damp firmware and software. Flaws in the software environment spoil the impression and destroy the illusion of the natural environment, natural complement digital labels and tips. With the exception of a dozen optimized applications, their design has remained the same and do not take into account the specifics of the device. In most cases, they look like displayed on a very large transparent plate. The exact date of the start of sales is not yet established, as well as price. We only know that it will be below the psychological mark of one thousand dollars.
